Upcoming Talks and Events

Talk:  Reducing Dependence on Fossil Fuels with Solar Thermal Power

Thursday, August 14th @ 7:30 PM

Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, Main Hall

505 E. Charleston Road, Palo Alto

Description: The Green Sanctuary Committee of UUCPA will sponsor a talk illustrated by power point images on the generation of electricity from solar power, to be given by John O'Donnell, Executive Vice President of Ausra of Palo Alto. Ausra manufactures a solar thermal system that delivers low cost electricity at prices competitive with gas-fired generation. The system includes energy storage, providing reliable operation into the evening hours and overnight. Ausra has a contract with PG&E to build a 177 megawatt installation in San Luis Obispo County. A study by Ausra shows that this system can deliver over 90% of California's grid energy with similar findings for the national US grid. Plan to attend this informative event!

"A Taste and a Talk" Series:  Simple Tips for An Energy Efficient Design

Thursday, August 21st, 2008,  Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Green Building Exchange, 305 Main Street, Redwood City

David Edwards of Earth Bound Homes, builder of the highest scoring GreenPoint Rated

home (304 points), will describe how to incorporate simple design features that can

greatly improve the energy performance of a building. These best practices utilize a

whole systems approach to design so that all components work together; this can save 30% or more on energy costs over a conventional building without significantly

increasing construction costs.

Join the CEAP Yahoo Group

One of the goals of CEAP is to: Create a vehicle for communication, education and awareness among the City and all segments of the community. The Yahoo Group was created to further that goal. Please join so you can communicate with other CEAP participants. We will also be transfering our meeting updates, minute notices and agenda emails to this group. Keeping a separate email list is labor intensive and becomes easily outdated and duplicative.
